On this episode we review the treatment and management of opioid use disorder (OUD). We discuss some background on the opioid epidemic as well as some physiologic changes that are seen with long-term opioid use. We also talk about the diagnosis and work-up of a patient with OUD as well as the three medications used to treat OUD. We close with some tips on managing opioid induced constipation that can occur with two of the OUD treatment options.
